The Leadership Team

Dr. Leslie Klein is the Founder of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.

Dr. Klein is an Electrical (Professional) Engineer (BASc, MBA, Ph.D.). Dr. Klein was employed by such notable corporations as Hewlett Packard, Digital Equipment Corporation, IBM, Control Data Corporation, and Bell Northern Research. He has been involved in the high-technology business over the past 40 years and has founded several successful computer hardware and service companies in Canada and the US.

A research lab is named after him at the University of Waterloo, and he supports five undergraduate scholarships every year at the same University.

Helping Leslie Klein lead the company is a team of highly accomplished professionals.

Bilal Awada, B.A.Sc., M.A.Sc., is Co-founder and CTO who oversees project development, R&D, and the Engineering group. With over 33 years of experience, his expertise covers Design, Development, Testing, and Field Roll-out. Before joining C-COM, he worked with at the Communications Research Centre of Canada as a senior research engineer on multi-nation NATO research projects.

Art Slaughter, CPA-CA, CFA, was appointed CFO of C-COM on March 13, 2020. Art has a diverse business background: General Management, Banking, CFO roles, and consulting across several industries.

Gadi Sela, B. Eng (Electrical and Communications) Director of Operations, Customer Support & System Integration, has 27+ years of satellite industry and leadership experience.
He is currently responsible for Operations, Customer Support and System Integration projects.

Future Outlook

The company is well-positioned to address the robust growth of Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellations that are being launched and will eventually consist of multiple thousands of satellites. The C-COM developed Electronically Steered Phased Array antenna system is expected to capture the untapped on-the-move markets of terrestrial, marine, and aero applications that will be required to be deployed in conjunction with Low Earth Orbit satellites.
