Jean François Alandry — CEO & Founder of You are Capital and Founder of Eurohold. He has over 30 years of experience in Corporate Finance and has successfully advised & executed countless corporate transactions for Private Equity and companies in various industries, including Technology, Environment & Renewable Energies, B2B Services and Life Sciences. Jean-François holds an MBA in Finance (EM Lyon Business School) and a Ph.D. in Financial Technique (ESSEC Business School in Paris). He is fluent in French, Spanish and English.

Pandemic Impact

In a recent interview, Jean François explained how You Are Capital navigated through the pandemic’s unexpected economic slowdown. During the lockdown period, very few deals were closed as PE firms and businesses adopted a prudent strategy, giving priority to the management of ongoing activities and postponing the implementation of plans based on external growth. When the market started to open up again, the company saw an opportunity in the M&A space and started scouting for potential M&A deals, understanding that, pandemic or not, people would not stop living, and business won’t come to a standstill. Since September 2021, the company saw a massive come-back in the M&A activity, which has come as a much-needed breath of fresh air.

The turnover of about two million euros in 2020 compared to the initial forecast of ten million euros was an unexpected outcome of the pandemic and says a lot about the tough times.
Jean François Alandry is confident on achieving exponential growth from 2021 onwards and expects annual revenues to be between eight million and ten million euros.

The company has expanded its international network with an office in Milan (Italy) in alliance with local consultancy firms led by Giovanna Ianni and Augusto Bagnoli. It has also strengthened its delegation in Madrid with Luis Santos, founder of Xacom Telecommunications. Today You Are Capital has 23 professionals in Barcelona, 9 in Madrid and 13 abroad.

According to Jean François, some of the sectors which are best positioned in terms of potential M&A activity in the current context include technology (cloud computing, managed services, digital transformation consultancy, etc.), life sciences (biotech, pharma, medical devices and clinical analysis), food & beverage, e-commerce/e-businesses, logistics and food distribution. He also expects an increase of M&A activity in sectors such as hospitality (hotels, restaurants), tourism, retail, and passenger transport.
