Managing Information Systems 3 Inc. AN APPLICATION-CENTRIC IT REVOLUTION

The world and alongside it, every aspect of the business is transforming rapidly. Technology is at the forefront of almost all these changes, and MIS3 Inc. is the brand that has changed the IT landscape in Canada! Organically grown, Managing Information Systems 3 (MIS3 Inc.), headquartered in Toronto, is a Business Value Technology Partner specializing in Business Transformation through IT Modernization

The MIS3 Mission

MIS3 Inc. stands for business transformation through IT modernization. Their mission is to be a strategic business and technology partner for their clients to help them transform and reimagine their business model through the adoption of an IT modernization framework. Focused on helping clients reduce their technology footprint and moving towards IT operational simplicity, MIS3 Inc’s specialization is centered on providing innovative, disruptive technologies that have business relevance for every organization.

The Solutions Offered

The solutions by MIS3 focus on three core areas:

The first area is the next-gen infrastructure—invisible infrastructure. This means it’s not the infrastructure that is important, it’s the application, and support should be there to let the app run like your smartphone or tablet.

The second area is next-generation cybersecurity, focused on 5 guiding principles that make MIS3 unique in their approach compared to its competitors:

– Understand, adapt and benchmark against a Cyber Security framework

– Build a dynamic CMDB (Configuration Management Database)

– Adopt an Early Detection Response approach (EDR)

– Build a Zero Trust Framework

– Security as a Service

The third area is the Next-Generation IT Operations. Reducing manual intervention and simplifying IT daily operations. Moving towards AI, machine learning, and behavior rather than mundane daily tasks. Adopting a simple IT architecture strategy will help you reduce IT Operational complexity.

White-Board of the Idea

Neil spent the bulk of his career in public-sector, focusing on provincial and municipal government, alongside large enterprises in the private sector. Several years ago, he noticed a significant shift in how the government was trying to understand the business value that technology provided and started to shift spends towards the next generation of technologies to focus on achieving business outcomes. These technologies included cloud computing strategies such as SaaS, IaaS / PaaS, and Private / Hybrid on-premise cloud platforms.

The purpose was to shift towards a more fluid and cost-effective IT strategy to meet business requirements and leverage technologies that could scale with simplicity, were easy to deploy, operationalize, and access. Neil quickly realized that the shift was happening not just in the government sector, but across all verticals.

Neil spotted the gap and created a proprietary five-step methodology, which he termed as the “IT Modernization Framework,” the core to Business Transformation. For years before the launch of MIS3, he fine-tuned this methodology and white-boarded it to CIO’s and VPs of IT all over Canada. He received tremendous positive feedback, and in June 2018, he parted ways from his former employer to pursue his vision of creating Canada’s first Business Value Technology provider and now the Canadian Leader in Secure Digital Transformation, MIS3.

The Uniqueness

The IT Modernization framework allows any organization, of any size, to adopt and scale, globally, if they genuinely want to achieve Secure Digital Transformation, which conventional legacy technologies lack.

Anyone can adopt it because all companies have one thing in common, which also is where most IT complexities begin – applications. Therefore, this IT Modernization framework was created with an application-centric philosophy.

To achieve business transformation, clients need to first answer four core questions to reimagine their business:

– How will we, as a corporation, engage our customers/citizens?

– How will we empower our employees?

– How can we optimize existing processes and make them automated with technology?

– How will we transform our brand and improve or reinvent the products and services we provide?

Once the business can answer the above, the MIS3 Inc, IT Modernization framework will enable it to leverage the appropriate next-generation technologies and strategies to execute against that business vision. It is not the tech that is important, but rather the business value the technology represents. All of those technologies have their purpose and all tie in, depending on the client and where they are in the journey towards achieving Secure Digital Transformation. Interpreting this information and mapping it directly to business objectives and goals is one of the prime areas MIS3 Inc. differentiates itself from the traditional VAR’s and SI’s in Canada.

Future Outlook

What started in 2018 as a one-man army, is already a 14 people team, about to touch 20 by the year-end. MIS3 has done about $8 million in revenue in the first 20 months. Neil has also built an alliance partnership team that is an extension of the MIS3 team. Their first partner was Nutanix, and they now have over 30+ tech partners.

MIS3 Inc. also continues to expand across Canada; they are already in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, with expansion plans into Saskatchewan, Ottawa, and Montreal. They plan to enter the US market in the next 24 months, starting with San Francisco and then New York with the help of their technology partners and continued focus in government and public sector and capital markets, insurance and retail.

MIS3 Inc. will continue to provide new and emerging next-gen technologies with a business purpose aligned to their message, “Business Transformation Through IT Modernization.” They will enhance their virtual consulting practice and focus on increasing their revenue sources to keep themselves relevant to their clients’ needs.
