Ronin network Surpasses Competitors in Daily Active Users
The Ronin network surpassed other blockchains in daily active user numbers as the gaming-centric ecosystem hit several milestones over the span of 2024. On July 29, onchain data platform Token Terminal released the numbers that the Ronin network had been logging, with a DAU count of two million, that surpassed the likes of Tron boasting 1.8 million DAU and Solana's 1.2 million DAU count, which has risen very recently. Token Terminal's data includes the number of unique addresses interacting with business-relevant contracts, comprising both users that transact and engage in the network.
Ronin's Growing Ecosystem
On July 23, the Ronin team published a midyear review, pointing out leading contributors to the rise of active users: such as a surge in volume for its NFT marketplace, Mavis Market, and the listing of Ronin (RON) tokens on Binance. The Ronin team believes these developments provided users with a "portal" into its "gamers' country."
The Ronin network further asserts 12 million RON holders and over three million users that hold the Ronin Wallet. Right now, the ecosystem holds 15 full games with millions of users playing, and many more in the development stage.
Pixels Migration and zkEVM Plans
Another key development in the space was the migration of Pixel, one of the largest games in Web3, by user count, to Ronin in February 2024. At its monthly active users peak in June, the game hit 1.7 million, while players have used more than 15,000,000 PIXEL tokens for VIP coupons over the last year of its operations.
Outside of gaming, the advances in technology have been profound. A day before an updated white paper was published on the 18th of June, plans were announced to implement a Ronin zkEVM: a zero-knowledge hash based on Ethereum Virtual Machine executables on an L2 chain. A Ronin zkEVM will use a modified version of the Polygon Chain Development Kit in what Sky Mavis says will be an update that will set Ronin on a path "of further decentralization" through its use of ZK-proof L2 rollups to service billions in transactions well into the future.
