New Aim Chooses Google Cloud to Empower Australian E-commerce Businesses with Generative AI
Australia's largest private e-commerce technology company, New Aim, has selected Google Cloud to consolidate its digital infrastructure and make generative AI (gen AI) more accessible to e-commerce businesses of all sizes in Australia. The move has already yielded significant benefits, including reduced IT costs, strengthened cybersecurity, and boosted infrastructure performance.
Since migrating to Google Cloud in March 2024, New Aim has achieved a 99% service uptime, up from 97%, and has reduced overall IT costs. The company's AirOxy.AI insights platform, designed to make gen AI more accessible to e-commerce retailers, has garnered strong industry demand since its pilot launch in July 2024.
New Aim's customers range from small "challenger" e-tailers to well-known local brands such as Bunnings, Woolworths, Big W, and Baby Bunting. The company's CEO, Fung Lam, said that Google Cloud has enabled New Aim to provide access to world-class gen AI capabilities to its customers, democratizing the technology and allowing smaller e-commerce players to compete with larger rivals.
New Aim's Chief Operating Officer & Chief Information Officer, Dr. Alex Ji, praised the ease of management and cost savings offered by Google Cloud. "In less than a year, Google Cloud helped us leap from an increasingly shaky multicloud approach to a single cohesive cloud environment that's been significantly easier to manage while also delivering immediate efficiency dividends."
The partnership with Google Cloud has also enabled New Aim to reduce the complexity and cost of its cloud transformation. Google Cloud provided extensive engineering support and education resources to New Aim, helping the company upskill its engineers at reduced cost.
Google Cloud's Director & CTO for Australia & New Zealand, Matt Zwolenski, said that the company is working with retailers worldwide to make AI an essential ingredient in their businesses. "New Aim is proof that e-commerce firms of any size can tap into digital infrastructure that allows them to punch above their weight."
New Aim's AirOxy.AI platform uses BigQuery to structure and analyze data from its product sourcing, logistics, and warehousing services. The platform's native integrations with Google Cloud eliminate compatibility and complexity issues, allowing SME retailers to run gen AI models and access pricing insights, market trends, and image optimization capabilities.
Dropshipzone, New Aim's subsidiary B2B2C marketplace, has over 2,500 active retailers using the platform to start and scale their e-commerce businesses. SME retailers using Dropshipzone stand to benefit from AirOxy.AI's capabilities, which will enable them to compete with larger competitors and make better decisions.
New Aim's vision is to level the retail playing field by providing equal access to AI-driven insights and capabilities for all e-commerce businesses, regardless of size. With Google Cloud as its partner, the company is well on its way to achieving this goal.
