From ideation to fruition

The idea of making a platform that allows people to express themselves was playing in David’s mind in since 2005. Projectionist, a blog that kept track of all the tumblelogs on the internet, became the inspiration behind Tumblr. Creativity and innovation drove Karp to realise his ambitions faster than most people can imagine. During a low-time while in the consultancy business, Karp decided that he would make a platform that will connect people across the globe. He deep dived in his longtime dream project and with the help of his colleague Marco Arment, to come up with the first version of Tumblr in just 2 weeks. It was success from the word go once tumbler was launched. Following a private launch in 2006, in 2007 it was introduced to the public. And David was just 20 year old!

Working with the people, for the people
