Soracom, an innovative global provider of IoT connectivity products and services, is joining others in the industry with the announcement of two new GenAI-centric services designed to quicken the pace of deployment for bigger, more complex IoT projects. The services, Soracom Flux and Soracom Query Intelligence, are deep in the IoT connectivity stack, with generative AI to simplify and improve IoT applications.

Soracom Flux: Low-Code IoT Application Builder

Soracom Flux is a low-code IoT application builder designed to bridge the gap between these many sources of data and the leading cloud-based GenAI engines—including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Microsoft Azure AI, and Amazon Bedrock—to build custom applications. According to Soracom, Flux will empower teams to generate IoT applications in just a few minutes by allowing user-defined data flows and natural language instructions. For instance, an application built using Soracom Flux could send alerts in cases when workers in a camera view field are not properly protected with required gear on a work site to enhance safety in use cases like construction, manufacturing, and security.

Soracom Query Intelligence: Managed Data Warehouse Service

Soracom Query Intelligence is a managed data warehouse service that gives customers the ability to stream or import device data into a highly available distributed database. This service will help managers of large IoT deployments use GenAI to query their IoT network data with natural language prompts and obtain immediate analyses in descriptive texts and data visualizations. Soracom touts that users don't need SQL programming skills to perform the complex analyses; platform level data is readily available to anyone.

Transforming IoT Project Management

In particular, these new services are very useful for non-technical users who aim to build AI-integrated IoT applications in real time. The enablement of automation of the assembly of applications by natural language, together with the possibility of querying systems for unique readouts, makes the management of IoT projects easier. “We've always envisioned an Internet of Things where connected devices can legitimately interact with each other to help humans make quick, data-forward decisions," said Kenta Yasukawa, co-founder and CTO of Soracom. "The emergence of public GenAI services holds the potential to fulfill that vision."

Yasukawa further opined, "Soracom Flux and Soracom Query Intelligence drive AI much deeper within the IoT stack. Project teams can now accomplish in minutes what once took months and required expert skills. Even non-technical managers can now enjoy complete control of even the largest and most globally distributed IoT networks."

Availability

The official announcement, however, is that all customers of Soracom can already experience Soracom Flux in Public Beta with a free tier. Pro and Enterprise tier plans are slated for later release this year. Soracom Query Intelligence is only available to select customers as "Technology Preview," with interested parties invited to contact Soracom for further details.
