Ericsson and Wipro Successfully Migrate 5 Million Odido Mobile Customers to Cloud-Native Billing Platform

Ericsson and Wipro Limited today announced the successful completion of the migration of 5 million Odido mobile customers in the Netherlands to a next-generation, cloud-native billing solution. The entire ambitious project was implemented in one weekend in August 2024 without a single moment's break in customer service-uninterrupted service, which marks the hallmark of the new system.

This comes after Ericsson Billing on Amazon Web Services was integrated with migration. Having just migrated 700,000 Ben MVNO users in November 2023, this is preceded by a previous successful migration of 700,000 Ben MVNO.

Wipro was the end-to-end system integrator and collaborated closely with Ericsson to integrate the new billing solution with Odido's existing IT infrastructure. The modernized billing system is expected to reduce the operational cost of the company and make customer journeys easier and thereby enhance the overall experience of users.

Reflecting on the complexity of the migration, Chief Executive Officer of Odido said: "It was like open-heart surgery on a marathon runner while he is running."

This change will further complement Odido's newly launched fixed-wireless access solution, Klik&Klaar. The new cloud-native billing system certified on AWS comes with more comprehensive automation capabilities and increased billing accuracy. It is also well-equipped for future growth and technological advancements, enabling smooth integration with other system providers.

In fact, Wipro Limited shares rose marginally today after a smooth migration. The IT major's shares were quoting at ₹550.80, up by ₹2.70 or 0.49 percent on the NSE at 10:50 AM today. As Odido goes on innovating and expanding its service offerings, this partnership sets a solid foundation for the progress ahead in the Dutch telecom landscape.
