Western Digital Unveils 6TB Portable Hard Disk Drives in India

Western Digital (WD) has announced the launch of 2.5-inch, portable hard disk drives (HDDs) with up to 6TB storage across the WD, WD Black, and SanDisk Professional brands. WD's My Passport line of portable HDDs and the SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD are now available for users in India, offering increased storage space for them to hold their files, photos, and videos.

The new hard disk drives are built to satisfy a growing need for huge storage capacities, more so from professionals and personalities with big data storage needs. In this respect, the 6TB HDD is available in several options, ranging from the WD My Passport, WD My Passport Works with USB-C, and WD Elements.

"The slimness of the world's first 2.5-inch 6TB portable hard drive is an amazing technological feté," said Khalid Wani, Senior Director Sales at Western Digital India. The company aims at offering products that give users a variety to choose from with respect to their storage requirements.

The My Passport series is compact and slim, encased in metal with a USB type-C interface. These hard disks have password protection and 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware encryption. Priced at Rs 15,499 for the standard and Rs 15,999 for the USB-C.

G-DRIVE ArmorATD, on the other hand, built for rugged use with all-terrain resistance and protection from shock that can stand a drop from up to 1m in height. The drive is also rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, with crush resistance up to 1000lbs. Priced at Rs 20,999, the G-DRIVE ArmorATD is built for professionals that need high-capacity storage solutions that will withstand harsh conditions at their place of work.

The all-new 6TB HDD is available from the Western Digital website, through stack-specific e-commerce websites, or at some of the retail stores. As a storage industry leader, Western Digital is highly focused on a large portfolio in its offerings in order to serve its customers based on their tastes and preferences.
